You can't buy your way into a full cohort

Education · Cohorts & courses

Nobody spends meaningful money on a course because they saw a good ad. They spend it because someone they already believe told them it was worth it.

That's why cold acquisition for cohorts fails quietly. Impressions arrive. Clicks arrive. A handful of registrations arrive. The unit economics never quite close, and the funnel looks healthy the entire time it's happening.

What share of your seats came from someone the buyer already trusted?

Where it breaks

When a launch needs a mostly net-new audience on a lean budget and a short runway, the persona choice is the channel strategy. Pick a buyer whose anxiety is current, career-shaped, and badly served, and the distribution already exists around them. Practitioner newsletters, a few communities, a short list of people who already teach that exact audience.

Pick the wrong buyer and no channel mix saves it. That decision takes an afternoon and it determines everything downstream, which is why I want it settled before a single rupee moves.

I've run these launches on budgets that shouldn't have worked. If you're filling a cohort and the math isn't closing, tell me what you're launching.
